Bananach

In early Irish folklore, the bánánach were preternatural beings, described as spectres which haunted battlefields. In Táin Bó Cuailgne, these creatures are usually referred to as part of a list "bánanaig & boccanaig & geniti glinni & demna aeoír" - bánánachs, bócanachs, spirits of the glen and sky demons.
