Swedes (Swedish: svenskar), or Swedish people, are an ethnic group native to Sweden, who share a common ancestry, culture, history, and language. Swedes mostly inhabit Sweden but have also migrated to other countries, especially the other Nordic countries. A substantial diaspora in other countries include the Swedish Americans in the United States and Canada.
The Swedish language is one of the official languages of Finland and the Finland-Swedes – having Finnish national identity – are an officially recognized linguistic minority.
